Mission accomplished: We submitted the 2021-2027 ATHU IP to the European Commission!

The new Austria-Hungary Interreg Programme has been submitted on 17th January 2022 to the European Commission for approval. The informal feedback during the development phase was positive, therefore we firmly hope that the approval process will go smoothly.

What does this process look like, how long does it take?

The deadline for the submission of the first draft IP to the Commission is 2 April 2022. However, as we obtained the Member States' approvals early on, nothing stood in the way of the formal submission of the programme.  The IP will be adopted no later than 5 months after the first submission.

Does this mean that the first call will be published this summer?

Unfortunately, no. Of course, the IP’s submission and its approval are of utmost importance, but there is still plenty ahead of us before we can open the first call for projects.  Amongst other things, we need to prepare and make available all the project materials and handbooks before the first submission date, and the new website is still to be created.
