Interreg Austria-Hungary 2021-2027 officially launched!
Continuity, service-oriented approach, simplification. These are the keywords which can best describe our next programming period. Huge efforts have been made to reach this important milestone of the Austria-Hungary Programme.
After years of meticulous programming work and thorough preparation of programme rules, handbooks and procedures, the Interreg Austria-Hungary Programme kicked off the implementation for the period 2021-2027, on 13 July 2023.
More than 120 participants were informed by the Managing Authority and Joint Secretariat about all the novelties and the similarities compared to the last programme period, in the frame of an online event. During a longer plenary session, the thematic focus of the new programme, the legal and financial characteristics were presented. Besides them, there was a strong emphasis on the programme’s expectations towards future projects, the entirely new tools and approaches, such as small-scale projects, new simplified cost options (unit costs for staff costs, 40% other costs flat-rate), and the issue of state aid that has grown in importance since the last programme period.
One of the most awaited information was the call-opening date and the timeline for project submission. This was completed with the foreseen dates of decision-making meetings, and further information events on practical details of the application process, which will take place as in-situ regional workshops, one in each member state:
- Regional workshop in Hungary: 22 August 2023, location to be decided
- Regional workshop in Austria: 6 September 2023, location to be decided
The most important dates for applicants to remember are shown in the timeline.
Participants had the possibility to ask questions during and after the presentation, which were answered in a Questions & Answers session at the end of the event. Parallel to that, the Programme initiated a few short polls – on Slido – to get an impression of the preparedness of potential applicants for the first submission round. We can state that the actors are ready to initiate the project development work and that the “Education and training facilities” specific objective is the most popular topic at the Programme start.
