Discover and celebrate: Opening event of the "Fields of Diversity"

30-05-2022

A large, diverse team from science, administration and landscaping made the fields of diversity possible. At the end of May 2022, the large project team, together with about 70 guests from Austria and Hungary, opened the new areas - a festive conclusion of the four-year research project!

Before the guests explored the new recreation sites and paths, accompanied by experts, people from different perspectives told about the project and painted a colourful picture together: Project leader Susanne Leputsch, for example, described the genesis of "Field View", "Wide View", "Birds Nest" and the "Insects Oasis" - these are the names of the new stations - and how unique she experienced the cooperation. Schoolchildren from Austria and Hungary who took part in a cross-border excursion revealed why nature conservation is important to them and Katrin Fuchs from Bio Forschung Austria explained the special nature of marginal zones between ecosystems such as forests and fields for biodiversity - a research focus of "AgriNatur". District councillor Gabriele Stelzhammer, cooperation partner Andras Vér from the University of Széchenyi István in Hungary, responsible forestry manager Alexander Faltejsek, as well as deputy forestry director of the City of Vienna Herbert Weidinger brought in even more mood pictures. Climate City Councillor Jürgen Czernohorszky and Danube City Councillor Josef Taucher expressed their sincere thanks to the project team, especially to project manager Susanne Leputsch.
