AgriNatur closing conference in Mosonmagyaróvár

The Széchenyi István University (SZE) organised the final conference of the AgriNatur project in Mosonmagyaróvár, where experts, researchers and practitioners from the two partner countries gave an overview of the project, research and the possibilities of ecological farming.

The opening speeches were delivered by Dr. Péter Baranyi, Rector of the University, Dr. István Árvay, Mayor of Mosonmagyaróvár and Bertalan Balczó, Deputy State Secretary for Nature Conservation.

Project leader Susanne Leputsch (City of Vienna Municipality) and Dr. András Vér (SZE) described in detail the often difficult and challenging, but nevertheless fruitful and inspiring journey from the beginning of the project to the realisation of its results. Katrin Fuchs from Bioforschung Austria presented the results of the Austrian monitoring surveys. Other highlights included interesting presentations on bird conservation, the possibilities of organic farming from small gardens to large enterprises, and the practical side of eco-education.

Dr. Harald Kutzenberger (TBK - Büro für Ökologie u. Landschaftsplanung) presented the possibilities of organic farming for biodiversity enhancement by presenting the Integrated AgriNatur Strategy prepared by the partners.

The event was concluded by a discussion, which provided a great opportunity for networking, discussion, and reflection for all those interested in the topic.
