Bike tour in the Mountains of Kőszeg

On September 29, 2021, MaKeTusz and AÖFK experts, members of the Kőszeg Cycling Association and VAVÖ cycling tour guides trained in the project took part in a cycling tour in the Kőszeg Mountains. The route followed the Írottkő Nature Park cycle path from the border crossing in Kőszeg to Bozsok. The aim of the tour was to examine the possibilities of the signposting to be implemented in the project with the involvement of experts.

The cycling tour started on the new cycle path in Kőszeg, which was completed as part of the project, on the former railway embankment between the border and Kőszeg. The delegation was then received by Béla Básthy, Mayor of Kőszeg, who outlined the current situation and plans for signage.

The programme was concluded with a lunch in Bozsok, where Engelbert Kenyeri, president of Naturpark Geschriebenstein, joined the guests and reported on the development of the MTB park on the Austrian side. The meeting provided an opportunity for the MaKeTusz and AÖFK staff to get to know in detail the characteristics of the Kőszeg Mountains and the possibilities for the implementation and further development of the joint (Austrian-Hungarian) cycling network which is the goal of the VELOREGIO project.
